Cinematographer and longtime focus puller Oluwole Oladimeji has made his producing debut with A Father’s Secret, a family drama produced alongside Damilola Osikoya, who also serves as an executive producer.
Written by Moshod Yakub Olawale and directed by Adeoluwa Owu, the film opened in cinemas nationwide on August 21, 2026, with Cinemax handling distribution.
A Father’s Secret follows a woman who rebuilt her life after her child’s father walked away. When he returns years later, his arrival threatens everything she has built and forces buried family secrets back to the surface.
The film stars Timini Egbuson, Aluko Olukemi Gold, Bryan Okoye, Faè Olumide, Nkwocha Princess, Odunlade Adekola, Remi Surutu, Dada Oluwasola Tolani, Emeka Golden, Joseph Oni and Gloria Hanson.
Moving from Camera To Producing
For Oladimeji, the film marks an expansion from the camera department into producing. His credits as a focus puller and first assistant camera include Madu, Far From Home, Tòkunbò, A Sunday Affair, A Naija Christmas and Red Circle. He has also worked as a cinematographer.
“I had been behind the camera for more than a decade,” he told OYA Magazine. “Producing allowed me to move beyond the technical side of filmmaking and learn more about the business of film.”
From Youtube to Cinemas
The opportunity came after Osikoya approached him to produce what was initially planned as a YouTube film. Oladimeji had met her while working on a Netflix series in 2024 and later consulted for Switch Visuals Productions on equipment purchases.
After reading the screenplay, he believed the project could be more ambitious. The production was restructured, with Owu joining as director and Oladimeji assembling parts of the crew. The release strategy changed again during post-production when the producers saw the finished film and decided to pursue a theatrical release before taking it to a streaming platform.
A Full Circle-Collaboration
Oladimeji’s relationship with Owu predates A Father’s Secret. They previously worked together on the Netflix series Far From Home and the feature film The Griot.
“My relationship with the director is more like a father-and-son relationship,” Oladimeji said. “Degzy, as he is fondly called, is a mentor to me, so having him direct my producing debut was a full-circle moment.”
Owu, also known as Captain Degzy, began his career in the camera department before moving into directing. His credits include The Griot, Adire, A Tribe Called Judah, Queen Lateefah and Owambe Thieves.
Oladimeji identified time as the production’s biggest challenge. The film had a limited shooting schedule, while his role required him to remain involved across several departments and manage pressure from some of the filming environments.
“I suddenly became a father to everyone on set,” he said. “I can beat my chest and say that I took good care of everybody on the project. No one was left behind.”
The experience, he added, taught him the importance of patience, leadership and problem-solving.
“Producing taught me to multitask, lead firmly and solve problems. Your patience will be tested, but you must maintain your cool.”
The film explores abandonment, parenthood, accountability and forgiveness. Timini Egbuson plays the absent father who returns years later, while Faè Olumide plays Mama Juwon, his mother, who accompanies him as he seeks forgiveness from the woman he wronged.
“This film teaches you to have a standard and stand by it,” Oladimeji said. “Don’t be swayed by distractions. Know what you want and go for it.”
The film’s crew includes cinematographer Henry King, gaffer Ibrahim Amodu, art director Abdulhamid Adekunle, costume designer Yolanda Okereke, first assistant director Blessing Babalola, editor Adedayo Ajala and colourist Chinenye Akunna. The camera team includes first ACs Zakkha Hope and Friday Anagha, alongside second AC Gabriel Emmanuel Abiodun-Nery.

Founded by Osikoya, Switch Visuals Productions began with music videos and commercials before expanding into film and television. Its previous projects include A Weekend Fiasco, the series Hustle and EVI, an Afrobeats drama produced in partnership with Judith Audu Productions.
