Omobaba FineBoy will return as host of Felabration 2026, according to announcements across the festival’s official social media platforms. The festival will take place at the New Afrika Shrine, Ikeja, Lagos, from October 12 to October 18.
Felabration is an annual festival held to honour Nigerian Afrobeat pioneer Fela Anikulapo Kuti. Conceived in 1998 by his daughter, Yeni Kuti, the festival has been held every year since, except in 1999. It has evolved into a week-long celebration at the New Afrika Shrine, attracting thousands of attendees from around the world.
This year’s Felabration is themed “WHO ARE YOU?” Pre-festival events include an art competition, which began on October 1 at the Kalakuta Museum, as well as dance competitions and school debates, with winners receiving cash prizes. The week-long programme includes live music concerts, debates, art exhibitions, dance and fashion events celebrating Fela’s legacy.
Fagade Olufemi Ademola, popularly known as Omobaba FineBoy, is a veteran Nigerian comedian, compere, actor and musician. He is also a regular on Nigerian comedy stages, including Gbenga Adeyinka’s Laffmattazz. Omobaba has served as Felabration’s official MC for more than a decade, and his return continues his long association with the festival. Several renowned personalities are also expected at this year’s festival, including Alhaji Musiliu Haruna Ishola, Atawewe, Terry Apala, T-Classic, Soundboi, Lanre Da Silva, Labule, Ade Bakare and Frank Osodi Richards.
With Omobaba returning as host, Felabration 2026 continues its annual celebration of Fela’s music, art and cultural legacy under a theme that asks audiences to reflect on identity: “WHO ARE YOU?”
