Lagos short-film showcase returns to MUSON Centre on October 10 with eight films spanning thriller, drama and contemporary Nigerian stories
Night of Shorts returns for its fifth edition on October 10, bringing eight short films to Lagos audiences at Agip Hall, MUSON Centre, Victoria Island.
Convened by Take One Productions, this year’s showcase will feature Mr Rogers, Service Charge, Hussaini, Leila, Adigun, Mr Bold, Silenced and Circles, bringing together filmmakers and stories across different genres and perspectives.
The event is expected to draw filmmakers, actors, film enthusiasts and members of Lagos’s creative community for an evening dedicated to short-form cinema and independent filmmaking.
Now in its fifth edition, Night of Shorts has become a platform for filmmakers to screen their work before a live audience, creating opportunities for interaction and visibility within Nigeria’s film community. Launched in 2023, Night of Shorts has since presented films including Onajite, Ukulo Iyi, A Moment’s Peace, Voices and Trigger.
Some films presented through the showcase have subsequently reached wider festival audiences. Ihunanya’m, directed by Abiodun Odu and produced by Heavens Obule, premiered at Night of Shorts in 2023 before being selected for the Toronto International Nollywood Film Festival.
Among the selected titles is Take One Productions’ Leila, a thriller following Esiri, an introverted girl whose growing attachment to an artificial intelligence assistant begins to blur the boundary between technology and reality.
The film stars Linda Ejiofor Suleiman, Toluwani George, Maggie Osuome, Patrick Diabuah and Favour Etim. It was produced by Heavens Obule, directed by Abiodun Odu and co-produced by Rukome Ewoma, with Michael Fashina serving as executive producer.
Night of Shorts is convened by Take One Productions, founded by Heavens Obule and Abiodun Odu. The company operates across film production, talent development and initiatives focused on creating greater visibility for creative work.
Night of Shorts 5.0 will take place on October 10 at Agip Hall, MUSON Centre, Victoria Island, Lagos, with the red carpet beginning at 4 p.m. Regular tickets are priced at ₦15,000, while VIP tickets are available for ₦25,000.
