EVI, a female-led Afrobeats musical drama written and directed by award-winning filmmaker Uyoyou Adia, is set to arrive in cinemas nationwide in March 2026.
Produced by Judith Audu, the film is described as “a bold, unapologetic story that proves women can rise above challenges and thrive on their own terms.” According to the producers, EVI is expected to resonate deeply with audiences through its exploration of identity, ambition, and resilience.
Details of the cast are being kept under wraps for now, although industry speculations suggest that an official announcement will be made soon.
The film follows the turbulent journey of Evi-Oghene Donalds, known professionally as Evi, a gifted but arrogant music star whose world unravels after her record label abruptly cuts ties without compensation. Stripped of fame, fortune, and privilege, Evi is forced to confront the harsh realities of the music industry. With the support of her loyal best friend and a troubled manager, she embarks on a difficult path to reclaim her voice and rebuild her identity on her own terms.
EVI is co-produced by Damilola Osikoya and Uyoyou Adia, and marks a collaboration between Judith Audu Productions, Switch Visuals Productions, Signet Rings Productions, and NOI Productions.
The project is backed by CCHUB Creative in partnership with Africa No Filter and supported by the Gates Foundation. Distribution is being handled by FilmOne Distribution.
