Adenike Adebayo-Esho’s Tele x Zikora has released its official trailer ahead of its October 23 cinema debut. The university-set feature reunites Mike Afolarin and Genoveva Umeh, who previously appeared as classmates in Netflix’s Far From Home, in a new campus story.
The official trailer arrives weeks after the film’s teaser was released in September, offering a fuller look at the romance, friendships and drama unfolding around the students of the fictional Lagos Metropolitan University.
Written, produced and directed by Adebayo-Esho, Tele x Zikora follows Tele, played by Afolarin, and Zikora, played by Umeh, whose lives collide on campus despite coming from different worlds. Their relationship becomes entangled with friendship, social pressure and the contrast between who they are publicly and privately.
The film is also positioned as a contemporary return to the university drama, a format that featured prominently in Nollywood during the early 2000s. Rather than simply recreate that era, Tele x Zikora brings the campus story into a more contemporary setting, reflecting present-day youth culture and the realities of Gen Z university life.
The cast includes Tomi Ojo, Chimezie Imo, Emeka Nwagbaraocha, Layi Wasabi, Mercy Aigbe, Daniel Etim Effiong, Kanaga Eme Jnr., Angel Unigwe and Olumide Oworu, among others. The film also reunites Afolarin, Umeh, Ojo and Nwagbaraocha, who previously appeared together in Netflix’s Far From Home.
Tele x Zikora is produced through a collaboration between Imagine Media and MayDay Studios, with Cinemax Entertainment handling distribution. The film is set to open in cinemas nationwide on October 23, 2026.
The new trailer comes shortly after Adebayo-Esho spoke about the film’s development, revealing how what began around three characters expanded into a much larger campus world. In her recent conversation with OYA, she also described the film in three words: “Beautiful, romantic and dramatic.”
With its cinema release now approaching, Tele x Zikora is putting a contemporary spin on a familiar Nollywood setting — the university campus — while placing romance, identity, friendship and social life at the centre of its story.
