Twenty-five years after the original Issakaba introduced audiences to a group of vigilantes taking justice into their own hands, Issakaba The Return trailer introduces a new generation confronting many of the same fears. In a Nigeria where kidnapping, banditry and insecurity continue to shape public conversations around safety and justice, its return raises familiar questions.
Directed by Lancelot Oduwa Imasuen, Issakaba: The Return brings back the fictional vigilante group, but its latest trailer raises a question that feels particularly relevant to the world the film is returning to: when people take on the responsibility of protecting others, where does justice end and violence begin?
The trailer, released on October 1, offers a first look at the sequel and introduces a new generation of Issakaba members alongside familiar faces from the original film. Sam Dede reprises his role as Ebube, now an older figure and father to a young son who dreams of one day becoming an Issakaba himself.
As insecurity escalates within the story, the need for the Issakaba resurfaces. Armed with weapons associated with the group in the original film, the new generation sets out to confront the growing threat and restore justice.
But the trailer does not present their methods without question. At one point, a character challenges the group over whether protecting people gives them the right to take lives. The response from the Issakaba is clear: they are not driven by violence but by their pursuit of justice.
That exchange suggests a tension beyond the action itself. From the trailer, Issakaba: The Return appears interested not only in who protects people, but in what happens when those who take on that responsibility become the ones deciding who deserves to live or die.
The return also brings together familiar faces from the original film with a new generation of cast members. Sam Dede returns alongside Chiwetalu Agu, while new additions include Phyna, Iyabo Ojo, Regina Daniels, Mark Angel and Nosa Rex, among others.
Lancelot Oduwa Imasuen returns as both producer and director, continuing his involvement with the franchise 25 years after the original film. The executive producers are Emmanuel Winner Utomi, Diran Michael Adeyinka, Prince Agbonlahor and Lancelot Amusan, with Mister Views serving as director of photography.
Issakaba: The Return is scheduled for a nationwide theatrical release on November 13, 2026, and is distributed by Blue Pictures Distribution.
