Following its record-breaking screening at Tafawa Balewa Square, Black Market is heading to cinemas nationwide for a limited run beginning October 1.
On September 26, the film broke the Guinness World Record for the largest attendance at a film screening. The record was confirmed at the event by a Guinness World Records adjudicator, surpassing the previous mark of 43,624 people set at the 2015 premiere of Felix Manalo at the Philippine Arena.
President Bola Tinubu has since congratulated Damilola Osikoya of Switch Visuals and Nora Awolowo of Rixel Studios on the achievement.
Black Market follows five market women running a smuggling operation across the Nigerian border. The cast includes Lateef Adedimeji, Linda Ejiofor-Suleiman, Omowunmi Dada, Uzor Arukwe and Susan Pwajok.
Directed by Fatimah Binta Gimsay, the film is produced by Nora Awolowo and Nicole Ofoegbu, with production credits to Rixel Studios, FilmOne Studios and Signet Ring.
FilmOne Entertainment is handling its nationwide theatrical distribution.
