Nollywood campus drama Tele x Zikora has released its first teaser ahead of its October 23 cinema release.
The film stars Mike Afolarin as Tele and Genoveva Umeh as Zikora.
The teaser opens in a university classroom at the start of a new academic session, with Layi Wasabi playing a lecturer who warns his students, “If you’re looking for an A, I promise you you’re in the wrong classroom.”
It moves through scenes of campus life, including students taking photographs, walking to class, and partying, before settling on a brief moment of eye contact between Zikora and Tele.
The pace slows in a female dormitory, where Zikora tells her visibly stunned roommates, “I almost kissed him… I mean… we didn’t… but we were… and then he… and then he left.” The sequence is intercut with flashes of romantic and emotional encounters involving her and others in the ensemble, including Olumide Oworu.
Tele is later shown looking on in confusion, suggesting that the film’s romantic relationships may be more complicated than they initially appear.
Elsewhere, the teaser moves through parties, sports, confrontations and other parts of student life. Femi Branch, Daniel Etim Effiong, Wunmi Toriola, Ibrahim Chatta and Mercy Aigbe also appear.
Written, directed and produced by Adenike Adebayo-Esho, Tele x Zikora is set at a fictional institution, Lagos Metropolitan University. According to information shared by the filmmakers, production took place across three real university campuses: one in Houston and two in Lagos, including Lagos State University of Science and Technology (LASUSTECH).
The ensemble cast includes Chimezie Imo, Tomi Ojo, Emeka Nwagbaraocha, Toluwani George, Olumide Oworu, and Gbubemi Ejeye.
Imagine Media and May Day Studios back the film, with Cinemax handling nationwide distribution.
Tele x Zikora marks Adebayo-Esho’s follow-up to 2025’s Summer Rain, which also starred Umeh. The filmmakers have said that the full plot will remain under wraps until the official trailer.
The film opens in Nigerian cinemas on October 23.
